Questing is your single most powerful tool in RuneScape gold the early game. Not only do quests grant large chunks of experience, but they also unlock new areas, equipment, and skills that are essential to Ironman progress. Some must-complete early quests include:
Cook's Assistant – Unlocks cooking basics and teaches gathering fundamentals.
Doric's Quest – Offers early Mining XP and access to Doric's Anvil.
The Restless Ghost – Grants early Prayer XP, a crucial step toward protection prayers.
Imp Catcher – A quick way to get access to basic elemental runes for Magic training.
Rune Mysteries – Unlocks Runecrafting, which is vital for making your own runes.
Other long-term quests to aim for early include:
The Grand Tree – Grants Agility XP and access to Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Lost City – Unlocks Zanaris and the Dragon Longsword.
Completing these quests early on provides the XP, tools, and mobility needed to train effectively and stay alive.
Gathering Essential Resources
In Ironman mode, you need to collect every resource yourself. That means building up a foundation of essential skilling resources from day one.
Woodcutting & Firemaking
Start with the trees around Lumbridge and Draynor to level up Woodcutting. Use logs to train Firemaking alongside it for extra efficiency. Later, these logs will also be useful for Fletching arrows or lighting fires during combat grinds.
Mining & Smithing
Begin with copper and tin to train Smithing. Create bronze items to help train combat early. As you level up, move to iron, steel, and eventually mithril and adamant for improved gear.
Fishing & Cooking
Fishing provides a reliable source of food, while Cooking allows you to heal more efficiently. Start with shrimp and anchovies, then progress to trout, salmon, and eventually lobsters. Use range fires or cooking ranges in Al Kharid or Catherby for efficiency.
Herblore & Farming
Early Herblore is unlocked through Druidic Ritual, and though it's a grind, it pays off. Create strength and attack potions to boost early combat. Farming herbs as soon as possible gives you a steady supply of cheap OSRS GP ingredients for potions later.
