The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has said that any boycott or withdrawal of the submission of its lawmaker candidate list by the main opposition due to alleged political oppression, will not affect the legitimacy of the government after the election.

According to the preliminary result of the registration for political parties and submission of their candidate lists, released by the National Election Committee (NEC), as of yesterday, there are 10 parties which have submitted the relevant document, of which seven were officially recognised by the election body.

The Beehive Social Democratic Party (BSDP) headed by radio journalist Mam Sonando is the 10th political party to register with NEC on Tuesday. The 15-day registration deadline is set for Monday.

As of yesterday, the CP has yet to submit its document to the NEC but newly appointed acting Secretary-General Kong Monika has said the party expected to submit it between tomorrow and Sunday.
