  • Description : Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his concern about the health of the leaders who have left Cambodia to attend the G20 Summit in Indonesia or to their respective countries.

“My big concern is the health of world leaders and heads of international organisations attending the meetings (ASEAN Summits) in Cambodia whether or not they get infected (with the COVID-19),” he said in a special voice message this evening.

But through research, he added, the leaders and heads of international organisations participating in the G20 Summit in Indonesia as well as those who returned home after the ASEAN Summits in Cambodia were not confirmed positive for the virus.

“So, I think that I got infected when I was very tired. In the past week, I worked around 15 hours a day, so my tiredness may be the reason behind the infection,” the Premier said. “Up to now, my health is normal, there is nothing strange. I eat well and rest well. I will continue my treatment at home.”

Hun Sen also thanked Their Majesties the King and Queen-Mother and his compatriots for their wishes for his fast recovery.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to reject some analyses claiming that his infection could be a trick of some countries that do not want him to attend the G20 Summit in Indonesia and the APEC Leaders’ Informal Dialogue in Thailand.

“Please stop this misunderstanding. Indonesia, the host of G20 Summit, does want the presence of the ASEAN Chair in the meeting, so does Thailand, the host of the APEC Leaders’ Informal Dialogue. In Bangkok, there were arrangements for my meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron,” he stressed.

Hun Sen arrived back home this evening after being tested positive for COVID-19 in Indonesia.
